My name is Eke, and I grew up in Seoul, Korea, but currently live in Nebraska.
Although shortly after looking at a map anyone could know the location, most people still ask:“Where is Nebraska?” If you pick the spot that is the farthest from any ocean in North America, I live about 40 additional miles away.
Although I grew up close to the sea, I did not really fall in love with the ocean until much later in my life. My husband and I won a four-day trip to Miami in January. At first it was really nice to get away from the unkind Nebraska winter. Even though the water was freezing by Florida standards, it was still much warmer than home. Seeing green palm trees and eating fresh coconuts, was just not something that we would ever see in Nebraska.
The more we returned to the beach the more I realized just how much I loved being by the ocean with the endless view of the rolling waves, and all the varied sea life. My connection with nature while walking down the beach gave me a time of peace.
Collecting seashells quickly became one of my favorite activities. After many trips to Florida, the Caribbean, and elsewhere now have a large collection of sea shells at home. (I have a room dedicated to shells that my husband calls my shell shrine!)
Shelling is fun, is great exercise and seems to be a wonderful way to rid your life of stress, it just makes me happy.

Shelling is not an expensive hobby, unless you live over a thousand miles away. Your generous contributions are greatly appreciated.
